Short answer
Serengeti National Park's main gate is Naabi Hill, 254 km from Arusha by road through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Seronera, the central hub with the main airstrip, is 49 km beyond it. The north and the Mara River crossings at Kogatende are 128 km of park track further on. Save the gates and airstrips on this page in an offline app before you lose signal.

Getting a map that works offline
- Tracks4Africa is the standard for East and southern African parks: paid, with camps, fuel and distances on the tracks.
- OsmAnd and Organic Maps are free and use OpenStreetMap, the same data as the map above. Download the Tanzania region before you leave.
- Google Maps offline areas cover the approach from Arusha and Karatu but are unreliable on the park's own tracks.
- Save the waypoints on this page in whichever app you use. Batteries die, so keep a written list of gates and distances in the car.
How the park is laid out
The road from Arusha enters at Naabi Hill Gate in the south-east, after about 100 km through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and runs 49 km north-west across the plains to Seronera, the hub of the park. From Seronera, tracks run west along the Western Corridor to Ndabaka (135 km), north-west to Ikoma Gate (38 km), and north to Lobo (73 km) and Kogatende on the Mara River (128 km).
Lake Ndutu and its camps lie south of the boundary, inside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, even though the calving herds use both sides. Bologonja Gate in the far north is on the map but closed to tourist traffic; the road crossing to Kenya's Masai Mara is far to the west at Isebania and Sirari.
A note on accuracy
The coordinates come from OpenStreetMap and are good enough to navigate by, not survey-grade. Three are approximate and say so: Naabi Hill and Ndabaka are placed on the hill and the plain beside each gate, and Moru Kopjes on a camp in the area. The park outline on OpenStreetMap is also smaller than the official 14,763 km², so do not measure the park from it.
Tracks change after the rains, and the black-cotton soils of the south and west can close a route for days between March and May. Ask at the gate what is passable, and keep to marked tracks: off-road driving is not allowed.
